Time for some lights, camera...

Action !!!

Its that time of the year when the summer internships are on the verge of completion and the junta is all eager to get back to campus and finally do something worthwhile :).

This summer has been truly great. Met and made good friends, read lots of novels and sifted through tons of scripts for our next venture. The high point of this entire summer was the team that I was working with during this internship of mine. The gang was awesome and the emphasis of the entire internship seemed to revolve around the focal point of all great discussions ...BAKAR

For the junta who have not experienced this phenomenon, here is the the dictionary meaning -

Bakar - Any random discussion without an iota of thought applied to it :)

So here I was engrossed in bakar sessions from the morning B'fast to the frequent coffee breaks to the evening dinner and in between made posters for an AUNTY-Smoking campaign that was launched here.

Ya, I was talking about sifting through scripts. I its a funny feeling how your approach changes towards a story when you are reading it from an angle of making a film. There were instances when I came across great stories but when I started to analyse the feasibility of that story as a script that can be done justice to by a camera then everything changes. The moment you feel that you won't be able to capture it it loses the charm. It has a positive impact though, you tend to focus on select stories and tend to go through lotsa scripts faster.

Though we have couple of projects in our hands now, we still are on the lookout for the ultimate script and here's were you can help us. If you feel you have a great idea/concept that can be built into a script for a short film please feel free to share it with us. There are no restriction on the scope of the idea so let ur ideas soar in weird directions.

disclaimer : This is not a contest but one thing is for sure If your script appeals us you would be playing an important part in bringing ur idea to life.

So let the ideas pour in...

Early Days – How the song came along

It was around 3:15 am on a thrusday, the PGP1’s (first yearites) of JBS(IIMC’s very own music band) were practicing for the ‘JBS nite’ that weekend. The usual tracks were done with and we were just fooling around when Tanmoy asked us to listen to the music that he had created. There was something in the tune that he rolled out that instantly caught our imagination and all of a sudden we found ourselves turn into lyricists as we kept coming up with rhyming words. Within exactly an hour we were through with the lyrics of the entire song! And by 4:15 am we started with the first jamming session for our very own track – Early days

Tanmoy,Hemant and John took to their guitars,Sood the drums,Sireesh,Teju and I got the vocals going and in no time we had a momentum going which filled us with great delight. Now all that was left was to make the audience sway to the music. We knew that we had something good on our hands but the verdict that we got from the crowd was overwhelming. Its never happened so far that we have sung this song and haven’t got a request for playing it ‘Once more’.We are more than happy to oblige :D.

The lyric has lots of B-School jargon like RG – relative grading, Tutes – tutorial sessions, Finacc – financial accounting (IIMC’s forte),BS - behavioural Sciences and STATS –(Statistics – the most dreaded 1st term paper). The lyrics that you hear in the video have been modified for the outside world as the original version has stuff too specific to IIMC. If you want to hear the original lyrics you can always attend JBS nite @ JOKALAND.

There is more to come and we hope that our following acts surpass the expectations.

Early Days

Our very first video, Early Days -

Hoping for many more to come!

The Beginning

I can't actually put my finger on any particular moment resulting in the birth of this idea. I guess, it was a case of three like-minded people being at the right place, at the right time. Anila, Sreeni & me - Varun - three people from three corners of India. If we hadn't met at IIM Calcutta, we might never have met perhaps. But we did meet and somehow arrived at the conclusion that we should shoot a music video for a song composed by the campus band, JBS Baro-C - Early Days. And thus, our journey started!

Here's for the interesting times ahead - Cheers!
